Youth Conference

Last weekend we had a Youth Conference for the kids at our church. It involved all the Mormon youth from the entire Bakersfield area (we were told to expect about 400 kids). Every ward (congregation) was in charge of a "mountain man activity" for the kids to participate in. The whole idea was to give them an old fashioned carnival of sorts. Our activity was bobbing for apples, except that instead of making everyone get all wet, we tied all the apples on a string and hung them up. Did I mention that we were expecting 400 kids? I got some really long needles from the fabric store and some fushing line and we all went to work...

It turned out really good and the kids got a kick out of trying to
bite the apples without using their hands.

The kids all said they had fun and I know that all
the adult leaders were glad when it was all said and done.
If I never string another apple again, it will be too soon.

Emma's first shower

Just so that no one thinks we are gross, Emma has taken a bath almost every single day of her life. She LOVES the bath tub but she has always been terrified of the shower....until recently. I don't know what it was that made her change her mind, but as you can see, she loved it!! She kept running back and forth through the water. She even figured out how to stop up the tub so she could take a bath and a shower at the same time! When she woke up the next morning, her first words were, "Mom, cam I take a shower?" I guess we never have to worry about her having stinky feet again!!

So sorry for the long pause in between posts!! Our computer crashed about 2 weeks ago and we just got it back today. Can I say thank heavens for good friends whose husbands know stuff about computers and can fix it for you?!?! One of the biggest things with our computer crashing was our pictures...so I am here to remind everyone out there to back up all your pictures!! NOW!!! Quit reading this stupid post and back those pictures up!! If it wasn't for Wes Jensen and his amazing computer knowledge, my pictures of Lucas' birth and everything since would be gone. So get off my blog, and back those pictures up!!
